Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc Preview Released

The preview trailer for the next arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has been released and it features a glimpse at Tanjiro's new sword. The recent Kimetsu no Utage event for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime revealed a new trailer for the anime's upcoming arc. The new promotional video features a quick recap of past arcs and a glimpse into the next arc, complete with stunning visuals and a peek at Tanjiro's new sword.

The new arc will retain the staff from previous Demon Slayer projects, which is inclusive of the main staff at Studio Ufotable such as director Haruo Sotozaki and the chief animation director Akira Matsushima. The official Demon Slayer USA Twitter account tweeted the following in the announcement of the preview.

The trailer showed various significant moments in the series before drawing the viewers in with the familiar sounds of metal clanging against metal. The clanging is followed by clips of the main blacksmith of the Demon Slayer Universe, Hoganezuka, plunging hot iron into water as the screen fades to black. The following text reveals that the next location for "the next mission" will be the "Swordsmith Village". Viewers will be excited by the reveal of Tanjiro's shiny new Nichirin Blade, as his last one broke in the battle against Daki and Gyutaro during the Entertainment District Arc. The blade itself is a gorgeous black and silver metal, a design reminiscent of Berserk protagonist Guts's Dragon Slayer and the myriad of Zanpakutō from Tite Kubo's BLEACH.

The cast for the upcoming arc includes the enigmatic Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, and it can be surmised that the format of this arc will be like those previous, with the main trio of Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke supporting the Hashira on an important mission.

Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba received its first anime adaptation in April 2019, which adapted the first seven volumes of the hit series. Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train Arc followed the events of the first season, adapting chapters 54 to 69 of the manga, followed by the Entertainment District Arc, which is an adaptation of Demon Slayer's ninth volume.

This next arc, titled Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Swordsmith Village Arc, will be an adaptation of parts of the original manga's 12th to 15th volumes. The original manga began publishing in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 2016 and ended in May 2020, with a total of 23 volumes.

Demon Slayer season 3 trailer reveals the Swordsmith Village Arc

Get to know the Mist Hashira and the Love Hashira, The third season of Demon Slayer gets an all-new trailer, revealing some new footage for the Swordsmith Village arc.

Most of the trailer is a recap of the show’s previous arcs, complete with old footage. This includes the Mugen Train Arc, which also had a theatrical movie, and last season’s Entertainment District Arc.

But there is some new footage at the end, as Tanjiro watches two swordsmiths at the forge. Additionally Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, and Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, make brief appearances at the end. These characters will play a more central part in the upcoming Swordsmith Village Arc. Finally, the trailer ends with Tanjiro pulling out his sword, ready to fight. That isn’t exactly a new thread in Demon Slayer, but check out that sweet black blade.

If you’re still heartbroken from the last season of Demon Slayer, you have time to ready yourself. There is no date yet set for the new season, but the first two are available to watch on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu.

Demon Slayer’s new Swordsmith Village Arc is here

And Tanjiro looks angry.

Running out of source material before reaching the story’s climax is a common problem for popular manga-to-anime adaptations, but it’s been a non-issue for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. With a three-year gap between the start of the Demon Slayer manga and TV series, the anime still has plenty of storylines and scenes to work with, and fans of the animated Demon Slayer Corps aren’t even close to the end of their adventures.

So while the manga may have ended nearly two years ago, the Demon Slayer anime is just now coming up on the Swordsmith Village Arc, and Aniplex has released the first preview video with footage from the new season.

First, though, the video provides some flashbacks to the anime’s story so far, both as a quick primer for those who haven’t been watching until now and also as a very welcome excuse to once again show preexisting fans the incredible action animation that’s become one of the series’ calling cards. The back half of the video is where it heads to the swordsmith village, with the symbolic unfurling of a scroll marking the start of this new chapter of protagonist Tanjiro’s journey with is companions.

Speaking of which, this arc will be the first chance for anime viewers to properly meet Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji, the Demon Slayer Corps’ Mist and Love Hashira.
